I am still down here in Honduras for a few more days but just got back from a beautiful place called Cayos Cochinos. It’s a small group of islands off of the Northern Coast of Honduras in the Caribbean. They are a nature reserve, which makes the coral and the fish beautiful but since there is no Tourism infrastructure there really is only one place to stay and that’s on a local Garifuna island.
I will write more about the experience once I get back home in the next few days, but in the meantime here are some shots of the beautiful tropical paradise which is Cayos!
Cayos Cochinos, Honduras.
Conch Shells floating ashore.
Underwater sea fans.
One of the twelve islands that makes up Cayos.
The local school boat arriving back at Chachahuate to drop the kids off. They travel 40 minutes by boat to the big island in the background where the school is.
Sailing.
Picture perfect tropical living.
Making our way to the neighboring island.
Not a bad place to spend the afternoon.
There was more than enough wind but the crappy kite we brought to the island couldn’t hang.
Cochinos scenery.
Fried fish is the staple meal.
Checking up on the daily catch.
A view of Chachahuate, the island we slept on.
Cross-section of daily island life.
Old sprite bottles used as fishing buoys.
An impromptu photo lesson with the boys of Chachahuate.
Home in a few days and then I will write a bunch more about this trip!

Beautiful work, Scott!
